Kemble's Papers

Key items from Kemble’s library (including his notes on Beowulf, and his annotated copy of the Codex Diplomaticus) were sold by his family in the late nineteenth century; and the remaining bulk of his papers (including notebooks kept as a student at Cambridge in the late 1820s, and his working notes on various philological and historical enterprises) was sold by his grand-daughter Mrs Catherine Bodham Donne in 1934.  Kemble’s books and papers are now widely dispersed; but, as indicated on this list, many of them have been tracked down in the past twenty-five years. Should anyone be aware of other books or papers, not listed here, please inform SDK.
